Kisoro Court Convicts and Sentences M23 Rebels for Illegal Entry into Uganda”

KISORO –Court in Kisoro district has today handed two M23 rebels to Kisoro Government Prison for jail sentence of one year and 9 months over illegal entry into Uganda.

Court presided over by the Kisoro Chief Magistrate, *Kenneth Komakech, found that Innocent Murwanashaka and Innocent Nkurunziza, all residents of the Democratic Republic of Congo entered Uganda illegally on September 29, 2023 via Nyabwishenya Sub-County of Kisoro district.

During the court session, state prosecutor Best Kemigisha Niwagaba with a detective witness from Kisoro Police Station, IP John Bosco Ahimbisibwe, told court that the accused were intercepted by residents of Nyabwishenya who handed them over to Nyabwishenya Police Post.

*Komakech charged the duo of illegal entry into Uganda without valid documents, and sentenced both to which made him sentence each to 1 year and 9 months in jail, after which they will be repatriated to their home country.
