First Lady Janet Museveni Commends Church’s Role in National Development

KAMPALA,(UG)-First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, has commended the role of the church in the development of the nation through ministering to the spiritual and other needs of the communities in which they operate.

Mrs Museveni also expressed her gratitude to the church for having a positive impact on the younger generation, through the various discipleship and mentorship programmes. She said the programmes have developed many youths and brought them closer to Jesus Christ.

This was contained in the First Lady’s address read for her by the State Minister for Industry, David Bahati, at a fundraising service for Tripple Blessings Church Kawuku-Namulanda along Entebbe Road, this week.

She explained that through the various initiatives, the youths have also been equipped to contribute significantly to the development of their communities, rather than relying on donations from abroad which fuel negative foreign influences and alien cultures.

According to the First Lady, the youth also need to continuously be made aware of the evils of the information age, which she said has encouraged vices such as substance abuse, immorality, indecent dressing, and pornography, which dishonour God and defile their minds and souls.

She urged the church to advise parents not to abandon the God-given role of raising their children in the church, schools, or any other institution or individuals.
